Sports Injuries

Are injuries that happen when playing sports or exercising. Some are from accidents as well. One can get injured when one is not in proper condition, i.e. not warming up or stretching enough before you play or exercise.

Common sports injury:

  • Ligament Sprains (Ankle, Knee)
  • Muscles Strain (Tears or swelling)
  • Tendon Injuries & Inflammations
  • Skin & Bone injuries (Lacerations, contusions, fractures)
  • Joint injuries (Dislocations & ligament tears)

Hand Injury

At one time or another, everyone has had a minor injury to a finger, hand, or wrist that caused pain or swelling. Most of the time our body movements do not cause problems, but it’s not surprising that symptoms develop from everyday wear and tear, overuse, or an injury.

Finger, hand, or wrist injuries most commonly occur during:

  • Sports or recreational activities.
  • Work-related tasks.
  • Work or projects around the home, especially if using machinery such as lawn mowers, snow blowers, or hand tools.
  • Accidental falls.
  • Fistfights.

Limb Lengthening

Limb lengthening is a surgical procedure to lengthen and/or straighten deformed bone segments or replace missing bone. It works by helping to gradually grow new bone and soft tissues (skin, muscle, nerves, blood vessels, etc.).

During limb lengthening and deformity correction, a bone that has been cut during surgery can be gradually distracted (pulled apart), leading to new bone formation. Bone segments can be lengthened by 5 to 15 percent. There are many different devices used to lengthen a bone. The most common is attached on the outside of the bone with the thin wires or pins and screws. There are also lengthening devices that are fully implanted inside the bone.

Deformity correction

Our patients’ musculoskeletal concerns are treated with compassion and care. Some may have decided to address a childhood issue that has affected their lifestyle. Others may be dealing with complications of orthopedic conditions. And still others may want to overcome the debilitating effects of leg, ankle and foot deformity injuries.

Dr M.L Parnami’s longstanding use of minimally invasive surgery to treat leg deformities has helped the Parnami ortho hospital stand out among orthopedic facilities. Patients who have undergone procedures at Parnami ortho hospital have experienced positive improvements in their lifestyles and well-being. Using a minimally invasive approach one can change a patient’s life, giving him or her gift of functional lower extremities. After a lifetime wearing, braces and other cumbersome equipment, some patients can finally be free of these needs.

Complex Trauma

Complex post-traumatic stress disorder (C-PTSD; also known as complex trauma disorder) is a psychological disorder thought to occur as a result of repetitive, prolonged trauma involving sustained abuse or abandonment by a caregiver or other interpersonal relationships with an uneven power dynamic.

Complex PTSD is thought to be more severe if:

  • the traumatic events happened early in life
  • the trauma was caused by a parent or career
  • the person experienced the trauma for a long time
  • the person was alone during the trauma
  • there’s still contact with the person responsible for the trauma

As it may take years for the symptoms of complex PTSD to be recognized, a child’s development, including their behavior and self-confidence, can be altered as they get older.

Adults with complex PTSD may lose their trust in people and feel separated from others.

Chronic Backache

Since man is an upright creature, his low back bears a considerable amount of weight. The low back region, just above the hip level, is extremely prone to strain. As a result, backache affects nearly everyone at some point in their lives. Backache is said to be ‘chronic’ or persistent if it lasts for 12 weeks or more.

Pain may arise if:

  • The disc pops out of position and presses on a nerve (prolapsed intervertebral disc or slipped disc). This may happen in sportsmen who exert themselves, or if sudden heavy lifting is done.
  • The facet joints become worn, developing irregular bony edges that press on the nerves (lumbar spondylosis)
  • The spinal canal gets narrowed from old age and compresses the spinal roots within it (spinal stenosis)
  • The verterbral bone gets softened with age (osteoporosis) and flattens (compression fracture)
  • The spinal segments are not in line, either due to slippage forwards (spondylolisthesis) or curvature sideways (scoliosis)

Spine Problems

If you’re suffering from back pain, you’re not alone. In fact, 8 out of 10 will experience a lifestyle-altering episode of back pain at some point in their lives, with many of those episodes becoming recurrent. The spine care specialists at Parnami ortho Hospital are trained and experienced in providing relief.

In a particular situation if a surgical procedure is the preferred line of treatment .our team of spine treatment specialists, including orthopedic specialists and neurosurgeons, are trained to effectively correct problems related to:

  • Bulging discs
  • Degenerative spinal conditions
  • Fractures, dislocations and subluxations
  • Herniated disc lesions
  • Mechanical back dysfunction
  • Osteoporosis
  • Soft tissue sprains, strains and contusions
